Since the beginning of March, the Hub’s operating footprint has grown dramatically. We’re now staffing 3 locations, including two hotels sheltering the homeless and our original intake location at 82 N 2nd St. In partnership with Housing and Community Development, MIFA and Community Alliance for the Homeless, we are exploring opening a third hotel in the next 48 hours.

During this sudden and unexpected expansion, we’ve hired new employees, increased operations to 24/7, and helped cover the costs of shelter in place vouchers for people experiencing homelessness.

Hub staff, working selflessly, creatively and courageously, see this extended, around-the-clock work as an opportunity to provide unprecedented case management and map permanent supportive solutions for those we serve.

All the while, we keep moving forward on the Hub expansion, plaza and women’s shelter at 590 Washington Ave.

While our partners in the City and County will work to open the economy, we do not expect the need to safely shelter people experiencing homelessness to change anytime soon.

Recent news out of San Francisco highlighted the importance of keeping the homeless community safe during the Covid crisis. Last week, it was discovered that despite the success in controlling the virus among housed populations there, the overlooked and underfunded homeless community had faced high infection rates—putting the entire city’s progress at risk.

Looking for funding opportunities from all circles, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign on ioby to capitalize on a dollar-for-dollar match they’re offering. Through this crowdfunding campaign, we have access to up to $8,000 in matching funds and are eager to secure it to ensure the longevity of our hotel vouchers program. We invite you to participate to help The Hub secure this additional funding with a donation today. Give today to double your dollars

Thank you for all you do to support the Memphis community,
